Unlike traditional directionally based event apps that only service the visitor or patron, the Cata-log Event app provides heightened services to all three groups attending an event: Visitors, Exhibitors and the Organising Committee.
Existing contact and lead collection tools at Trade Events are usually very costly and the data is hard to manage. Appticon has specifically developed the Cata-log Event app to collect and retain all contacts on one site and for multiple events (read more, hyperlink to Exhibitors page).
The Cata-log Event app has been designed for visitors to research and design their itinerary prior to the trade event.
While the Visitors are the most visible audience at a trade event, the most critical and influential group are the exhibitors.
The Cata-log Event app has been specifically designed to minimise the workload of an organising committee, but also provide substantial benefits to the customers (Visitors and Exhibitors).
The Cata-log Event app has been designed for visitors to research and design their itinerary prior to the trade event. This can be done on a PC, tablet or smartphone and continually updated, wherever and whenever necessary. Information can be collected and exchanged directly with selected exhibitors prior, during and after the trade event, building the relationship and trust for sales.
Visitors have expectations that when attending an event, information will be readily accessible and correct. Time constraints with printed catalogues make last minute changes very hard to deal with and usually result in inaccurate details being printed. Current directional Apps that are downloaded onto a phone need to have an update to change the information. Cata-log is a cloud based app that is instantly updated and as such, details are always up to date.
Unlike traditional directionally based event apps that provide a basic exhibitor search and directions, the Cata-log Event app has totally changed this approach. The visitors and patrons are the most important audience at any tradeshow or field day type event. This audience is solely focused on gathering new data, contacts and brokering deals. Cata-log enhances this data capture and most importantly extends the ‘connectedness’ between the exhibitors and visitors, well and truly after the event has finished.
Cata-log has been designed around a search engine that allows visitors to view, save and sort exhibitors of interest into their personal ShowBag.
The ShowBag collates the personalised exhibitor list before and during the event, creating a concise itinerary and notes that are in one easy-to-access reference point.
The ShowBag can be further edited, added too and reviewed during the event or at sometime later to reconnect with the exhibitor.
The app will effectively become the visitors’ personalised directory/contact list for the ‘Cata-log Events’ attended throughout the year.
The contact list and saved data will be available and easily referenced on the visitor’s smartphone or home PC, as opposed to the traditional piles of pamphlets and business cards that were collected in the past.
The visitor’s login will remain the same for any ‘Cata-log Event’, making the Show Bag/contact list a great resource for visitors and further increasing the exhibitor connectedness and longevity of the services that the event provides.
While the Visitors are the most visible audience at a trade event, the most critical and influential group are the exhibitors. The enthusiasm and commitment of the exhibitors will dictate the overall atmosphere of the event and future prosperity. If high satisfaction and sales generation is accomplished, then the exhibitors can see a tangible value for their attendance and expenditure. Any services that can enhance these requirements will further add to the overall value proposition of an event.
Currently, Cata-Log is the only app and software providing this level of event lead enhancement and so there is minimal expectations of exhibitors of heightening their interactivity with visitors on this platform type.
The app has also been developed as a portal for the exhibitors to improve lead and contact conversion from each event. The app provides several opportunities for the exhibitors:
Exhibitors can provide incentives through different methods, like ‘non-public’ websites within the Cata-Log app which may contain specials or specifications for visitors that have only physically approached the site or met with the sales team.
A tiered user-pays system will allow exhibitors to choose exposure and data capture packages, for access to the increased search capability, database interactivity, benchmarking and CRM system.
Exhibitors that do not pay for a package but are registered for the trade event, will still be displayed and have minimal but similar search abilities as the printed catalogue.
Exhibitors can access three main points of contact for visitors that have made themselves ‘contactable’, with quick and easy hyperlinks:-
Phone: Mobile and landline
Cata-log Instant Message:-

Josie wishes to organise a meeting with the exhibitor ‘ZoneOne’ at the tradeshow, She can ‘Instantly Message’ ZoneOne to touch base and start a discussion. If ZoneOne has ‘upgraded’ to the Cata-Log Premium Package, then they can easily reply to all visitors that have saved ZoneOne to their ‘Showbag’ and made themselves ‘contactable’. Josie can also make her own private notes in her ‘Showbag’, specifically regarding the points for discussion with ZoneOne.
The Cata-log Event app has been specifically designed to minimise the workload of an organising committee, but also provide substantial benefits to the customers (Visitors and Exhibitors). The Cata-log Event app has also been developed to collect and provide objective data for analysis and review of future opportunities.
Management Committee Expectations
Currently there isn’t any other apps providing this level of service and so there is minimal expectations of Management Committees and gathering generic demographical data, aside from a exit survey. Cata-log will provide a greater picture of the demographic and also provide a streamlined survey capacity, improving the potential for participation.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE BENEFITS
The data required from the committee is generally the exhibitor and event CSV files, (including exhibitor ID, site ID, exhibitor name, ABN, category, phone number, email address, event, time slot, etc.), a current and scaled site map, specified GPS points, the event logo, sponsor logos and a preferred colour scheme.
Over time the traditional reliance on printed catalogues will reduce, which will be both economically and environmentally beneficial for the event.
With traditionally printed catalogues late entrants and late sponsors or incorrect details are generally left with no capacity to correct or utilize the full benefit of the catalogue. The Cata-log Event app allows for the latest corrections and information updates, which will always be available, due to the app being cloud-based and live.
