• Studied agriculture at The University of Sydney + Dip. Ed.

• 2 years National Service (13 months in Wewak, PNG teaching agriculture to PNG soldiers)

• 7 years as a Professional Officer at School of Wool and Pastoral Sciences, computerised sheep research data from 14 flocks using Fortran, sheep and cattle genetic research, (obtained Masters in Applied Science, using infra- red light to measure yield and diameter of wool)

• 1981 – set up Farmplan in Australia with 3 farmers (emphasis changed from genetics to financial management and computing) – 30 years developing and supporting agricultural software

• 30 years teaching computing and financial management at the Orange Agricultural College which became a school of The University of Sydney

• Leading the Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Commerce) degree when took early voluntary retirement about 10 years ago (previously led the Rural Business Administration course and developed it into a degree

• My work now covers:

o Phocas – Business Intelligence software (Web application) – others develop the

o Red River Solutions – customising and supporting Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains

o Farmplan – software development and customer service

o A farm with 1200 olive trees and trading steers

o Specifying and supervising development of Appticon web applications

• My major tool for software development is Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9 application and Customer Relationship Manager – use Microsoft SQL Server and Report Writer
